Notes of dark berries, smoke, spices, petals and cassis preface the 2022 Cantelys, a medium to full-bodied, dense and layered wine framed by velvety tannins with good depth at the core and a long, delicate finish. Confirming my expectations, this is the best Cantelys I have ever tasted.

The 2022 Château Cantelys is beautifully concentrated, offering currants, loamy earth, spicy wood, and chocolate. Round and layered, it has fine, ultra-fine tannins and a seamless, silky mouthfeel, delivering both depth and elegance. Count me in as a fan, and while this is already approachable, it’s going to have two decades of prime drinking.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2022 Cantelys springs from the glass with bright notes of crushed blackberries, Morello cherries and black raspberries with underlying hints of cedar, pencil shavings and wild sage. The medium to full-bodied palate is lively and fresh with grainy tannins to support, finishing with a skip in its step.
