The 2015 Chablis Séchet 1er Cru is a very pleasant wine, but it did not set my world on fire. A little primal and simplistic on the nose compared to Dauvissat's Premier Cru, it is also just a bit too rich for my liking. The palate is well balanced with an attractive creamy texture, quite sweet and just missing a bit of nervosité on the finish. Thoroughly pleasant, but not memorable. Tasted at Au Fils du Zinc in Chablis.

(there will be one last bottling of this wine, before Christmas): Much more about terroir than Chardonnay fruit on the nose, conveying scents of lemon, dried fruits, praline and almost medicinal menthol. Very rich and broad but almost austere, offering a wonderfully fine-grained texture but little in the way of easy sweetness. Finishes very long and taut, with noteworthy nervosité for the year.

Pale yellow-green. Nose dominated by wet stone and menthol, with primary fruits in the deep background. Rich and silky in the mouth--in fact, atypically fat for this cuvée --conveying enticing sweetness but little obvious fruit. Shows serious minerality and noteworthy nervosité on the finish, with a distinct iodiney quality lingering in the retronasal passage. The crop level here was a rather full 55 hectoliters per hectare, according to Dauvissat.
