The 2001 Cote Rotie la Landonne was impressive and possessed plenty of the classic warm spice, smoked meats, graphite, licorice and currant aromas and flavors that always dominate this cuvee. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless on the palate, it's drinking nicely today, but should hold nicely through 2025.

Full red-ruby. Complex, expressive aromas of briary red and black berries, gunflint, mocha, smoked meat and iron. Fat, sweet and expansive, with flamboyant flavors of raspberry, smoked meat and gunflint. Wonderfully silky, lush Cote-Rotie with very fine tannins and a long, sweet, peppery aftertaste.
(50% new barriques) Bright ruby-red. Explosive aromas of cassis, blackberry, gunflint, mocha, licorice and mint. Broad, supple and rich, with more volume and sweetness than the Seigneur de Maugiron. Really fills the mouth. Quite primary and pure. Finishes with notes of licorice and bitter chocolate.
