1980 Carruades de Lafite

The 1980 Moulin de Carruades was served blind and surpassed all expectations. A delightful, mature bouquet showcases vestiges of black fruit and touches of sous-bois and tobacco; the fruit becomes more apparent with time. The palate is medium-bodied and well-balanced, with a fine acidic spine. There is ample weight here, much more than you would suppose from a 41-year-old Deuxième Vin, even if it is from Lafite-Rothschild. A pleasure!
