Cask sample. Very sweet, rich and flattering. Edgy and much more youthful than the Corton-Les Renardes 2019 from this producer. Quite marked acidity and fresh transparency. Pretty impressive finish but it seems a tad more tentative than the Renardes and the oak is evident at the moment. The price seems distinctly silly. (JR)

The 2019 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru shows the 60% whole bunch on the nose, slightly overshadowing the blackberry and briary aromas. It’s quite Morey-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a structured opening, though perhaps not quite as precise and as elegant as the Clos de la Roche. There’s a touch of dryness on the finish.
