Bright, dark red-ruby. Closed nose hints at brambly blackberry, spices and game. Sweet, concentrated and densely packed; not quite as high in acidity as the Poissenot (this is a warmer site) but with plenty of juicy energy keeping it tight in the early going. Shows a bit more evidence of oak on the finish, with the rather fine-grained tannins revealing a slightly dusty quality with air.

One of the highlights in this range, the 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers is exquisite, particularly for the way it balances power, structure and intensity of fruit. A dash of mint and orange zest adds brightness to the classic blue/purplish fruit of Cazetiers, while the long, expressive finish is incredibly alluring. The Cazetiers is often one of my personal favorites within the Remoissenet range. The 2013 is another strong effort.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin les Cazetiers 1er Cru, which is a domaine wine, has a slightly more backward nose than its fellow Gevery ‘13s. The palate is medium-bodied and feels a little more angular than the Poissenots, the acidity quite pronounced and citric, but it has commendable weight and girth on the finish. Give this Cazetiers a couple of years in bottle.
