Score 90/100 · Drink 2023-2032, Neal Martin, Nov 2022

The 2018 Chablis Les Blanchot Grand Cru is simple on the nose with tropical fruit, passion fruit and pineapple, missing the mineralité of some of its peers. The palate is well balanced with a tangy tangerine-tinged opening. It shows moderate depth, light in terms of grip and as such, it seems to taper towards a Germanic finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Exhibiting aromas of buttered citrus fruit, fresh peach and honeycomb, the 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Blanchots is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with fine depth at the core, lively acids and chalky structuring extract. This is a generous, broad-shouldered Blanchot that should offer dramatic drinking with just a few years' bottle age.

The 2018 Chablis Blanchot Grand Cru is powerful and ample but also structured, with terrific weight and power and some slight reduction. Lemon confit, tropical fruit, chamomile, salt and light honeyed notes all flesh out. The 2017 offers lovely creaminess and depth. I imagine it will drink well with minimal cellaring.
