Drink 2028-2045, FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

Lignier has just 0.29 hectares of Bonnes-Mares, a small parcel next to Groffier’s, planted in 1926. These old vines produce an impressive wine that is deceptive. At first it seems misleadingly delicate, yet behind this is real weight, intensity and sweetness to the wine. It’s rich and bright, with a firm framework of tannins that are balanced by the mouth-wateringly fresh, crunchy red fruit. The finish is long, with lingering smoky, mineral tones.

From a parcel just above the quarry owned by Prieur, Lignier's 2022 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru exhibits notes of raspberries, licorice, rose petals and crushed mint. Full-bodied, supple and concentrated, it's layered and succulent, with good depth and cut, concluding with a saline finish.
