Cask sample. Shows the extra weight and density expected of the grand cru. Having said that, this is a (relatively) approachable example with loads of ripe dark-berry fruit on the palate. No hard edges. Tannic structure, oak is in the background but very fine and with a very long future ahead. A beautifully sculpted grand cru. Spice notes and dark-cherry notes. Expensive but definitely worth the money. (AWH)

0.85 ha (2.1 acres). Finished racking one hour before. Cask sample. Deep-mid cherry. Despite being racked just an hour earlier, this remains remarkably limpid. Fresh flowers and red and black fruit on the nose. Raspberry and cassis on the palate. A touch more intensity than the Charmes. Lovely balance of acidity, fruit and tannins. (MH)
