Aged for 12 months in wood, then 6 in tank on the lees, which is the standard for all the grands crus. Light lemon yellow, a little oaky on the nose. Coconut too on the palate, but these aspects are just some top notes on top of a wealth of fruit with an excellent crystalline acidity. Very persistent. Drink from 2028-2038. Tasted Jun 2024.

The 2022 Chablis Blanchot Grand Cru, located mid-slope from 30-35-year-old vines, has a very complex bouquet: Granny Smiths, struck flint, hints of oyster shell and seaweed developing with time in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a little more weight than the Bougros but maybe not quite the same ethereal degree of mineralité . Nevertheless, this will age beautifully in bottle.

Samuel Billaud started making wine under his own name in 2009, but he is one of the most experienced producers in Chablis, having made wine in the region since 1985.
