Medium red. Blackberry, licorice and a whiff of menthol on the nose. Offers good grip and life in the mouth, showing more game and less flowers than the Marsannay. Finishes with good length and a firm spine.

(from vines averaging 70 to 80 years old) Full ruby-red. Distinctly animal aromas of blackberry, mocha and espresso. Tight and pure, with very good lift to the primary purple fruit flavors. Sweeter than the regular village wine but less evolved. The persistent finish features firm tannins and noteworthy freshness.

Very charming and correct with real life to it. Good balance and true Gevrey character. Long. (JR)
