2023 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc

Tasting notes
The 2023 white from Domaine de Chevalier is mineral-driven and concentrated on the nose, with restrained white peach and nectarine, framed by lemon blossom and lemon zest alongside faint celery leaf. The palate is fresh, with a clean, precise focus balanced by energetic acidity that zips through the wine, backed by a creamy mid-palate. The alcohol (14%) is well integrated. Weighty yet electric, there’s a long, lingering finish. Blend: 70% Semillon, 30% Sauvignon Blanc

Ripe citrus, stone fruits, crushed stone, subtle toast, and spice nuances all emerge from the 2023 Domaine De Chevalier Blanc, a rich, medium to full-bodied white that has integrated acidity, concentration, and a great finish. Another brilliant white from this team, it's approachable now yet won't hit full maturity for at least 7-8 years and will have 20+ years of overall longevity. Drink 2031-2045.
The 2023 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc is dense, powerful and quite substantial. Naturally, it needs time in bottle, as all vintages do at this address. Hints of marzipan, lemon confit, tangerine oil and white truffle begin to emerge over time, filling out layers that resonate effortlessly from start to finish. The 2023 is both radiant and quite fresh. In that sense, it very much embodies the style of this vintage. Tasted three times.
The 2023 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc demands coaxing from the glass, revealing cooking apple, pear and petrichor scents with time. It feels just a bit shut down after bottling. The palate is more indicative of the wine to come: very intense with impressive weight, lightly spiced, fanning out toward the finish with a long, stem ginger-tinged finish that augurs for a white Domaine de Chevalier with the legs to run a long race.
