From old vines that always produce small berries and low yields—and what is routinely one of the finest wines in the Gelin cellar—the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur unfurls in the glass with aromas of cassis, grilled meats, sweet soil tones and espresso roast. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated, with satiny tannins and a deep, reserved core, concluding with a pure finish.
