Smells riper fruited and less mineral than the Vaillons. Lightly herbal citrus. Riper and richer on the palate too. Generous fruit on the mid palate but with crystal-clear freshness on the finish. GV (JH)

Bright, light yellow. Yellow flowers, peach, pineapple and a hint of licorice on the nose. Rich, tactile and sweet but energized by a saline quality and sound acidity. Finishes smooth and persistent, with a piquant soft citrus note and subtly building saline minerality.

The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Côte de Léchet is matured in stainless steel for nine months. It has an attractive wet stone and flinty bouquet flanked by citrus lemon and yellow flower scents. The palate is taut and fresh with bitter lemon on the entry, fine precision and with a finish that unlike some of its Côte de Léchet peers, demonstrates adequate fruit intensity. This is a well made Chablis that should offer a decade of pleasure.
