The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, which contains around 55% whole bunch fruit, has a tightly knit bouquet of blackberry that displays a light marine influence ad notes of iris and crushed limestone. The palate is medium-bodied with a succulent, energetic entry. I like the structure and backbone here. Quite saline toward the finish, which is very Mazis-like in style. Classy and sophisticated.

The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is excellent this year, bursting with expressive aromas of orange rind, rose petal, raspberries and cherries. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and expansive, with a fleshy core of succulent fruit that conceals its fine tannins, concluding with a long, expansive finish.
