Produced from 50-year-old vines, the violet and black cherry-scented 2002 Gevrey-Chambertin is a floral, dark fruit-laden, graceful wine. Medium-bodied, pure, and elegant, this outstanding effort also possesses a long, fruit-packed finish. Drink it over the next 7 years. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. Good bright red-ruby. Black raspberry, smoke, meat and earth on the nose. Supple and fruity, with a gamey complexity. Could use a bit more concentration and flesh but finishes with sneaky length. Tannins are firm but fine.
