Medium red. Complex, inviting scents of raspberry, dried flowers and herbs and licorice. Plush, pliant and sweet, with redcurrant, cherry and spice flavors complemented by saline minerality and a whiff of tobacco. Like a coulis of red fruits, just this side of pruney. In a riper style than most of the other wines in this line-up, with supple tannins that will not stand in the way of enjoying this wine on the early side. The warmer character of the wine is due to the stones in the soil that hold heat, noted Pierre-Jean Roty.

(this vineyard is actually a clos behind Madame Roty's house): Healthy medium red. Redcurrant and raspberry aromas show a slightly liqueur-like ripeness that carries through onto the palate. The wine's thickness of texture is leavened by harmonious acidity. Not as long or authoritative as the Champs Chenys but rich and successful in 2014.
The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin la Brunelle has a tightly packed bouquet of rather introspective blackberry fruit infused with sous-bois scents plus a light marine aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with quite thick tannins that lend this a rather sinewy, bucolic personality. There is a tang of salted licorice furnishing the finish. It just needs to forage a little more finesse.
