Medium red. Redcurrant, truffley underbrush and a whiff of apple on the nose. Juicier and stonier than the Ostrea, with more energy to the flavors of red berries and menthol. Nicely harmonious acidity (and vinification with whole clusters) gives this premier cru good shape and inner-mouth tension. Finishes with rather supple tannins.

Violets, sweet tobacco, olives and spices are some of the notes that inform the 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Capita. The flavors are deep, pungent and a bit gamy in a pliant, expressive Gevrey loaded with personality.

(a special bottling from Trapet's premier crus, vinified entirely with whole clusters): Good bright red. Lovely high-pitched aromas of red fruits, minerals, spices and herbs. Juicy, precise and penetrating, with enticing inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of red cherry, raspberry and flowers. Not a thick wine but savory and perfumed, with a nicely delineated aftertaste. This wine makes a strong argument for the energizing effect of whole-cluster vinification.
