The 2021 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru feels rather oaky on the nose, which makes it seem generic at the moment, but I suspect that will be assimilated with time. The palate is slightly bitter on the entry. Linear in style, it lacks much flair or complexity, although it is redeemed by nervosité and sapidity on the finish. Modest length. This is a Chablis that could go either way. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
