Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Morey Saint-Denis 1er Cru Aux Charmes has a very attractive bouquet with impressive purity and delineation as it unfolds, offering wild strawberry, red plum and subtle undergrowth and sanguineous aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, edgy in style and tensile, fanning out nicely with sappy red fruit that persists in the mouth. This is a classy premier cru with the density to age. Tasted September 2016.

Light nose and really very polished tannins. Good balance and fills every crevice on the palate. No shortage of fruit although light to medium weight. (JR)
