Score 93/100 · Drink 2022-2032, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Jun 2022

The 2018 Albis combines 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Carménère aged for 18 months in new French barrels. An intense garnet red in color, the nose offers dark fruit such as blackberry and blackcurrant with attractive hints of cedar, bay leaf and sour cherry. With the terse tannins one finds in the region, it begins expansively before tightening up a little to deliver intense flavor followed by a lactic, long and fruity finish. A complex and nuanced wine.

The floral and aromatic 2018 Albis is a blend of organically grown Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Carmenere that shows strong aromas of tempera paint, ink, licorice and leather. As is often the case, the palate feels a bit dried out with abundant tannins. 30,000 bottles produced.
