(a 60/40 blend of grenache and carignan) Vivid ruby. Smoky red and dark berries on the nose, with sexy notes of Asian spices and potpourri lending an exotic quality. Deep red and dark berry flavors show liqueur-like depth and power, with zesty mineral and spice notes providing energy. Impressively lithe for a powerful wine, finishing with impressive lift and spicy persistence. This won't let go of the palate.

The purple-colored 2006 Cami Pesseroles is 60% Garnacha and the balance the other permitted varietals of the DO. Earth, mineral, spice box, and black cherry aromas give way to a suave, structured wine with savory fruit, plenty of spice notes, and a lengthy finish. It will benefit from several more years in the bottle and will deliver optimum drinking from 2012 to 2026. Mas Martinet is owned by Jose Luis Perez, one of the original Priorat pioneers. The estate owns 10 hectares of vineyard planted in the famous llicorella Catalan soil. In 2006 the estate has added two new cuvees, Els Escurons and Cami Pesseroles, which are intended to show aspects of the terroir rather than to be special luxury wines.
