The 2019 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre unwinds in the glass with scents of citrus zest, crisp green apple, mint, iodine and white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, its satiny attack segues into a tangy mid-palate, concluding with a penetrating finish. One of the highlights of the range, this should age with grace.

The 2019 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is intense on the nose, showing a little reduction, although that soon blows away to reveal lime, yellow plum and light crushed stone aromas. The palate is fresh on the entry, with more edge than the Vaillons and Vaucoupin that I tasted alongside. Similarly, there is a tang of salinity toward the finish that keeps this Chablis alert and fresh, showing decent persistence on the finish. Very fine.
