Score 92/100 · Drink 2009-2024, Robert Parker, Apr 2009

The powerful 2006 Hermitage Les Rocoules blanc (93% Marsanne and 7% Roussanne, all from old vines) reveals an unctuous texture in addition to loads of honeysuckle, white currant, and smoky hazelnut notes with hints of truffle and white peach in the background. This superb white possesses good thickness, depth, and length. It will be drinkable over the next 10-15+ years, This is one of the most traditionally run domaines of the northern Rhone. For a number of years, Sorrel has been adding a white and red Crozes-Hermitage to his small portfolio. Importer: J.A.O. Imports, McLean, VA; www.jaowineimports.com

Bright gold. Powerful spicy pear and white peach scents are deepened by blond tobacco and fresh fig, with piquant minerality adding sharpness. Silky in texture, with deep but energetic pear and quince flavors. Picks up anise and white pepper on the finish. Clocks in at a heady 16% alcohol but there's nothing obviously warm about it.
