The 2021 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru feels a little riper and richer than its peers, offering a "sunnier" bouquet with yellow fruit, candied orange peel and light tangerine aromas. It needs a little more crushed stone in the mix. The palate is concentrated with a slightly viscous texture, though this is counterbalanced by the acidity. Light peppery notes appear towards the finish, although it needs a bit more persistence. Despite small shortcomings, this remains a very fine Meursault. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a straightforward nose that is bereft of the mineralité and terroir expression resplendent on last year's offering. The palate is balanced with a lime and green apple entry and fine acidity, though again, it is missing some complexity and mineralité , especially on the finish. I would cellar this for two to three years and drink by the time it's reached its 12th birthday.
