Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2022-2038, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Chenevery 1er Cru is completely de-stemmed and matured in mainly used oak. It has a tightly wound bouquet that feels bashful compared to the other crus. The medium-bodied palate offers grainy tannin, a mixture of black and red fruit and a tangible sense of energy on the focused, very Morey finish. Excellent.

There are three barrels of the 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Chenevery, a deep, saturated wine that wafts from the glass with notes of cherries, rose petal and sweet spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with rich structuring tannins, good concentration and tangy balancing acids. There's sufficient substance to suggest it will age with style.
