57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 18% Carmenère, 1% Syrah, 1% Petit Verdot. Tasted blind. Deep ruby with a hint of purple. Fresh tart and ripe blackberry – like a fresh jam that has a bit of lemon to lift it – and herbal cassis notes. Dense with integrated oak and good length. Very big but also very balanced. (SCJ)

The 2022 Blend Altair is 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 18% Carménère, 1% Syrah and 1% Petit Verdot. This was aged for 22 months, with 16 months in French barrels, foudres and concrete tanks. Lighter in hue than usual, it opens with cherry and blackberry aromas, notes of tobacco, spice and a delicate vanilla hint from oak. The palate is juicy and plush at the core, with fine-grained, energetic tannins that provide excellent structure. The 2022 is a medium-bodied red that finishes with a gentle earthy note.
