The 2023 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru is the richest, fullest wine in the cellar, offering up aromas of dark berries, orange zest, exotic spices and petals, followed by a full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate framed by sweet, powdery tannins that assert themselves on the chalky finish. Groffier is now bottling the upper part of his Clos de Bèze, located on a geological fault and less ripe in style, as a tiny cuvée of Chambertin.

Groffier makes a magnificent Clos de Bèze each year, but the 2023 is a brilliant effort. It’s a substantial wine and is showing off in a more masculine way, but does not outperform the Chambertin. Tremendous liveliness and freshness. Fully de-stemed and treated with 100% new oak. A mineral powerhouse. J´ai adoré! Drink from 2038.
