Score 91+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2006

Restrained but highly aromatic nose of lemon peel, hazelnut and crushed stone. Juicy, tight and pure, with slow-to-unfold citrus and stone flavors. Not especially rich or fat but distinctly more classic than the 2005 version. Dense and long, with a palate-coating flavor of wet rocks. This will need a good three to five years of bottle aging.

Musky, complex aromas of lemon, mirabelle, nutmeg, ginger and hazelnut, with strong stoniness underneath. Chewy, dense and scented in the mouth, with classic Perrieres lemon, lime and powdered stone. This projects a powerful impression of minerality and boasts the best length of these very good 2004s.
