A wine that spent 20 months in 30% new barrels, the 2017 Côte Rôtie Les Rochains reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as a ripe, sexy style in its black raspberry fruits, notes of toasted spice, dried earth, and flowers, medium to full body, and present yet ripe tannins. It has a touch of background oak, yet it’s hard to resist today, but it will be better with 2-3 years of bottle age and cruise for 10-15 years.
With aromas of menthol, cola and baking spices alongside dark, plummy fruit, the 2017 Cote Rotie les Rochains comes across as oaky and perhaps a bit too polished and modern. It's full-bodied, creamy and lush. Long and mouthwatering on the finish, it boasts undeniable appeal even if it doesn't scream of its terroir.
Aromas of licorice, charcuterie and wild herbs, as well as blackberries and ripe dark plums. The palate has a very plush, ripe and juicy feel with so much blueberry and plum fruit on offer. Drink now.
