Score 92/100 · Drink 2026-2033, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, May 2026

Matured for 12 months in wood and now in its second winter in bottle, the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes reveals a complex, deep bouquet of dark fruits, spices and black cherry. Medium- to full-bodied, it’s dense and enveloping, with a velvety texture that belies its depth. Layered and structured, it’s supported by fine tannins and delivers good length on the finish. This is a Crozes-Hermitage that will benefit from further cellaring.

More forward and charming than Emmanuel's Au Fil Du Temps cuvée, the 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes offers red and black fruits, leather, peppery herbs, and floral and spicy notes on the nose. It's medium-bodied and shows nicely integrated oak, with building tannins and good overall balance. Give it a year or three of bottle age, and it should drink well over the following decade. Drink 2027-2039.

The 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes opens with initial reduction. With a little patience, red plum, spicy strokes and dark cherry aromas emerge. Cedar then adds another layer. Medium-bodied and tightly structured, the 2023 demands at least two more years in bottle before it starts to show its full potential.

The 2023 Crozes-Hermitage Les Trois Chênes opens with red plum, grapefruit and spicy facets of moderate intensity. Much more engaging on the palate than on the nose, the 2023 sports a rounded, juicy flavor profile that’s neatly framed by fresh acidity. Concluding with an uplifting finish, the 2023 is shaping up to be a delightful Crozes-Hermitage from the talented Emmanuel Darnaud.
