The 2023 Chablis Mont de Milieu 1er Cru has a well-defined nose of citrus peel, lime and light crushed stone scents unfolding in the glass. The palate sports a small reduction, then it suddenly spins off track with what can only be described as a rather dull finish. It's a shame after the aromatics. This is early drinking. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis.

Cask sample. Richer than Vaillons and maybe less characteristically Chablis. Dense undertow. But a little flattering, which is perhaps not what one wants from a Chablis. (JR)
