The 2023 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru has some reduction on the nose, though there is good definition and fruit concentration underneath. The palate is a bit out of sorts. It is quite volatile on the mid-palate with an almost sesame-like finish. This starts well but spins off track. Tasted blind at the BIVB offices in Chablis.

Tank sample. Aroma is less stony but riper-fruited than in the Fourchaume. Lemony freshness. Relatively light-bodied but persistent in its freshness. Lots of tension for a vintage without high acidities. Tight and lightly grippy on the finish. (JH)
