Mid cherry red. Pure elegant red-fruit fragrance. Very charming. On the palate, still has that fine scent, a delicate but harmonious structure and real finesse. One of the most attractive and refined Faiveley wines I have tasted in this vintage. Long, fragrant finish and really quite approachable. (JH)

(a combination of very young and 65-year-old vines): Bright, deep red. Aromas of raspberry, wild rose, hawthorn, truffle and spices. Wonderfully light on its feet, with penetrating minerality and floral character currently overshadowing the underlying red berry flavors. This highly distinctive wine is intense, juicy and quite sophisticated, finishing with suave tannins and terrific grip. (Faiveley briefly experimented with organic farming here in 2008, 2009 and 2010 but stopped in 2011 as the wines were too reduced: the 2009, according to Hervet, had to be racked seven times!)

Domaine Faiveley is one of Burgundy’s most important wine producers. The family-owned estate, now in the hands of the seventh generation, is one of the largest in the region, with significant holdings in both the Côte d’Or and the Côte Chalonnaise.
