Score 90/100 · Drink 2017-2024, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2017

The 2014 Ferran is powerful, dense and quite satisfying, even if some rough edges remain. Dark cherry, plum, tobacco, smoke and grilled herbs are pushed forward in a hearty, bold wine to drink now and over the next few years.

The Château Ferran 2014 has a ripe and generous bouquet with plenty of lush red cherries and blueberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with well-integrated new oak, good depth here with sappy blackberry and boysenberry notes, segueing into a structured finish that should mellow by the time of bottling. This is a fine Pessac-Léognan for the vintage.
