Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Ferran needs a little swirling before it slowly unfurls, offering notes of stewed black plums, warm cassis and kirsch, plus wafts of unsmoked cigars, crushed rocks and rose oil. The medium to full-bodied palate is laden with muscular black fruits, framed by finely grained tannins and bags of freshness, finishing long and earthy.

The 2018 Ferran appears to have gained some cohesion on the nose since I tasted it from barrel, offering raspberry and wild strawberry fruit laced with cedar and clove. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins and modest depth, and quite linear. The sapid finish just needs a touch more sustain on the aftertaste. Drink over the next 4–6 years.
The 2018 Ferran has a ripe red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet, quite pastille-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a bit pinched in the middle with a savory/dried blood finish that just tapers in too quickly. Hopefully it will flesh out once in bottle.
The center palate of this wine shows pretty density and freshness with purple-fruit and stone character. Some tea leaves as well. Medium body. Firm tannins.
