Cask sample. Lively and grippy and convincing with a distinctly whole-bunch element. Ingredients need to marry together. (JR)

The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin La Brunelle offers dark berry fruit, blackcurrant and a touch of juniper and peony. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins that frame the dark berry fruit. Balanced, solid for a Village Cru with a sweet and candied finish. Drink over the next decade.

Aromas of plums, spices, rose petals and sweet forest floor preface the 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin La Brunelle, a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy wine that's layered and gourmand, reflecting the charm and generosity typical of this climat.

Henri Rebourseau

Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, this domaine has a long history and impressive vineyards (with over five hectares of Grand Cru), but has long been considered an under-performer. Today, however, the Bouygues brothers (of Montrose and Clos Rougeard) have taken ownership and change is afoot.
