Bright ruby. Intense dark wild berries and black cherries, with underlying notes of undergrowth, spices, and tobacco, carried on supple tannins through to a generous finish. A powerful red produced by Fabien Geantet on 0.62 hectares of ‘Le Poissenot’ at 350m above sea level, well-positioned for ripening. Small production, approx. 2,400 bottles annually. 30% new French oak barrels, for malolactic fermentation and ageing.

Charming sweetness of strawberry fruit but it also carries a subtle tang and through the middle is gorgeous marrow of graphite. So much here. Layers and layers of tissue-paper-fine tannins infused with deep-red juice. (TC)
