Score 94/100 · Drink 2030-2043, Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, May 2026

A blend of all the parcels owned by Rostaing and vinified with some 90% whole clusters, the 2023 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium is lifted and expressive, revealing aromas of grapefruit, dark berries, spice and violet, subtly framed by oak. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and structured, it is built around a firm tannic spine that carries through to a long, mineral finish. Still very young, it will require time in bottle to fully unfold and integrate.

Ripe red and black fruits intermixed with baking spices, leather, and peppery herbs emerge from the 2023 Côte Rôtie Ampodium, a classic, complex, layered Côte Rôtie. It's medium-bodied on the palate, with a ripe, elegant mouthfeel, polished yet present tannins, and outstanding length. This includes all of the grapes that would normally go into the Viallière cuvée, which I suspect gives it a touch more density and structure. Drink this charming effort over the coming 7-8 years. Drink 2026-2034.

The 2023 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium breathes out alluring orange rind, crushed violets, fresh-cut ripe blackberry, red plum and fragments of black cherry. Stemmy tones add more complexity. Round and concentrated, the 2023 hits the mid-bodied palate with immaculate fresh clarity, easing the last impressions with juicy dark cherries and finely expressed spicy tones.

The 2023 Côte-Rôtie Ampodium entices with zesty blood orange, black cherry and violet notes. Medium-bodied with a fresh, juicy profile, the 2023 is remarkably accessible, offering total freshness and class. This is a Côte-Rôtie to watch, closing with stemmy subtleties on the juicy finish.
