Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Nov 2016

Tasted blind at the annual “Burgfest” tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts has a very elegant bouquet, vivid, with citrus peel, grapefruit and granitic scents that achieve impressive intensity with 5-10 minutes aeration. The palate is crisp and tensile on the entry, a keen thread of acidity, bright and intense with quite a penetrating finish. This is a serious Puligny-Montrachet, but what else do you expect from Bachelet-Monnot these days? Tasted May 2016.

Tasted blind. Mid gold. Savoury, dense and dry with quite a bit of evolution. Not that vital but solid. A yeoman style. (JR)

Pale, bright yellow. Tight but sexy aromas of fresh apricot, mandarin orange and flowers. Less dense than the 2014 version but fine-grained, suave and perfumed, with sweet but taut flavors of citrus fruits and minerals. Like a smaller-scaled version of the 2014 but more harmonious in the early going. Finishes very long, with excellent underlying mineral support.

Very pale. Admirably dense without being at all sweet. Great delineation. (JR)
