Score 90-93/100 · Drink 2001-2010, Pierre Rovani, Oct 1999

The dark ruby-colored 1997 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St. Jacques offers aromas reminiscent of cherry pie, white truffles, chocolate, cinnamon, and blackberry syrup. This is an intense, concentrated, expansive, full-bodied, and masculine wine. Powerful, brooding black fruits, mocha, and toasty oak flavors can be found in this broad-shouldered, muscular offering. Drink it between 2001-2010. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel(610) 486-0800.

Deep ruby-red. Sappy, perfumed black cherry, violet and spice aromas. Thick verging on unctuous, with terrific depth of flavor and lovely sweetness. Really explosive mouthfilling fruit. Very long, sweet and full, with thoroughly ripe tannins. More harmonious than the above wine.
