Bright medium red. Sweet, seductive nose melds raspberry, smoky underbrush, pungent minerality and sexy oak tones. Silky-sweet and lush, with a downright seamless quality to the palate-saturating red fruit, earth, spice and mineral flavors. As plush as this is, it maintains a light touch straight through to the long finish.

(100% new oak) Good deep red. Sappy raspberry and smoked meat on the nose. Wonderfully silky on entry, then dense and fine-grained, with a lovely restrained sweetness. This mounts slowly on the back half, finishing broad, lush and very long, with pungent notes of ginger and pepper. Really captures the energy of this vintage at its best. This one struck me as like a thicker version of the Cazetiers, and a remarkable effort considering the hail that affected much of this cru in 2006.

Expensive! Nice wine, though I’m not at all convinced it’s worth £800 a case. Very rich and flattering. Too much dry oak on the finish.  (JR)
