Candied violets, black raspberries, spring flowers, orange blossom, and peppery notes all emerge from the 2021 Côte Rôtie Les Triotes, a perfumed, exotic, medium-bodied Côte Rôtie that has fine tannins, beautiful balance, and outstanding length. It's a gorgeous wine from this estate that will drink nicely for 10-12 years. This is another brilliant lineup from brothers Kevin and Fabien Garon, whose estate is in the southern end of the appellation, although they do have vines in the Les Rochins lieu-dit, located just above Landonne. The wines are mostly destemmed and raised primarily in used barrels, and they are utterly classic, perfumed, elegant wines that drink well with just a few years of bottle age. Despite 2021 being a challenging vintage, they’ve produced some impressive wines.

The 2021 Côte-Rôtie Les Triotes is a little reductive at first. A few minutes of aeration unlock delicate orange blossom nuances alongside red plum, wood smoke and rubber. Light- to medium-bodied and modestly concentrated, it should be consumed over the next three years.
Tasted blind. Reductive notes on the nose. The palate is herbal with chewy oaky notes, cloves and pepper. Good energy throughout and a savoury finish. (AC)
