Score 76/100 · Drink 1989, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

I never found the 1976 La Mission to be a very good wine, as it began to show age and take on an amber/brown color when only 4 years old. However, it seems to have changed little since I last tasted it. It is an alcoholic, loosely knit, rather flabby La Mission, with somewhat of a stewed, roasted character. Yet, the wine does have ripe fruit, a good bit of alcohol, and very low acidity. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 1/89.
