The 2007 Cote Rotie la Landonne is another wine that's drinking beautifully today, and this forward, supple character is trait of the vintage. Revealing a perfumed bouquet of smoked beef, tapenade, currants and pepper, it's meaty and gamy, with full-bodied richness and ample, yet sweet tannin. While it won't really hit maturity for another 5-6 years, it certainly dishes out plenty of pleasure now, but will still see it's 30th birthday in fine form.

Vivid purple. Heady aromas of candied red and dark fruits, incense, violet and smoky minerals. Cherry-cola and blackberry compote flavors show an intriguing blend of richness and vivacity, with bright mineral snap on the back half. Finishes sappy, sweet and extremely long, with resonating floral and spice notes. This wine blends the richness and power of the Turque with the vivacity of the Mouline and should age effortlessly.

Dark purple. A wild, highly aromatic bouquet displays raspberry, blackberry, violet and cola, with a strong mineral element that strengthens with air. Juicy, penetrating red and dark fruit compote flavors are given depth by a note of bitter chocolate and firmed by strong mineral spine. Spice and floral pastille notes resonate on a very long, sappy, penetrating finish.
