100% new oak. Barrel sample – already racked from barrel to barrel. Subdued on the nose only hinting at fresh black fruit and a light smoky oak note. A nice dustiness too. All savoury and dark as it opens. Dark-hearted on the palate, black fruit and rocky mineral thread through the middle. Elegantly scented on the mid palate and then tightening up on the finish to chalky dry texture and freshness. A long way to go for the tannins to set the fruit free. (JH)
