Full ruby. Blackberry and blueberry on the powerfully scented nose. Rich and palate-staining, offering potent dark fruit and floral pastille flavors and showing serious depth. Becomes spicier with air and picks up an intense star anise quality that carries through a very long, chewy finish. Gonon thinks that this wine is beginning to shut down and strongly advises against opening it and expecting very much right now and for the next few years.

Deep ruby. High-pitched aromas of dark berries, Asian spices and potpourri, with a hint of cracked pepper. Sweet, incisive black raspberry and spice cake flavors become more peppery with air and show intense minerality, with no rough edges. The sweet, focused finish repeats the spicy notes and lingers with real authority. This elegant wine will age on its balance. Gonon ferments his syrah entirely with whole clusters.
