Good medium red. Initially mute, reduced nose opened slowly with air to reveal slightly medicinal scents of red cherry and wild berries. Began juicy, spicy and gripping but revealed building sweetness and power to its flavors of red berries, spices and saline, earthy minerality. Finishes firm, salty and long, with a positive dryness and excellent power and grip. This gained in silkiness and sweetness with 24 hours in the recorked bottle.

(true Charmes; finished its malolactic fermentation early, in February): Palish red. Strawberry, leather, smoke and a whiff of game bird on the nose. Silky, sweet and seamless, with aromatic flavors of strawberry and game. Finishes subtle, stylish and long, with late spice and licorice notes firming and lifting the aftertaste.
