There were four Côte Rôties produced in 2018. Looking at the 2018 Côte Rôtie La Sybarine, which was brought up all in older barrels, it offers a spicy, peppery, complex style with wonderful black raspberry fruits, medium-bodied richness, some background meatiness, and outstanding length. It's going to benefit from just short-term cellaring and keep for a solid decade.

Inky ruby color. Highly perfumed, spice-accented red/blue fruits, potpourri and incense on the nose, along with a building mineral nuance. Fleshy and expansive on the palate, offering sappy cherry, blueberry, allspice and candied violet flavors that are sharpened by a jolt of cracked pepper. Smoothly blends richness and delicacy and finishes long and gently tannic, leaving floral and candied red fruit notes behind. The 2017 version of this wine has picked up a lot of perfume over the last year and will soon start to show "the finesse of the Côte-Blonde", Éric Garon said. He imagines that it'll be an earlier drinker than this 2018 because "even if you can't see them the tannins are there." (25% whole clusters and no new oak)
