The 2013 Echézeaux Grand Cru comes from the domaine’s youngest vines, just 15-years old, that equates to two new barrels. That new wood comes through strongly on the nose and just tends to oppress the fruit and terroir expression at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, good depth and freshness with quite a powerful, licorice-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Give this three or four years to fully integrate the oak.
